Baking Powder Biscuits

  • 2 Cups ‏Flour
  • 1/2 tsp. ‏Salt
  • 1/2 tsp. ‏Cream of Tartar
  • 4 tsp. ‏Baking Powder
  • 2 Tbsp. ‏Sugar
  • 1/2 Cup ‏Shortening
  • 1 ‏Egg, slightly beaten
  • 2/3 Cup ‏Milk

Mix dry ingredients, cut in shortening. Mix in egg and milk. Roll out 1/2 inch thick. Cut. Bake 10 minutes at 450° until light brown. Optional – brush with milk before baking, helps browning.

Sausage Gravy

  • 1 lb. ‏Sausage
  • 3 to 4 Tbsp. ‏Flour
  • 1 1/2 to 2 Cups ‏Milk

Brown 1 lb. Sausage. Then add 3 to 4 tbsp flour. Mix well. Then add 1 1/2 to 2 Cups milk, stirring constantly. Boil 2 minutes. Add more milk if needed. Use with baking power biscuits or canned biscuits.
